TPACK Reflection Questions

1. How well the use of this technology may support your teaching strategies in this activity.
A. The use of technology allowed me to demonstrate, and show kids what it looks like at the professional level. Also using tools like google classroom to keep them asking questions and giving them the ability to see their trial and errors after class, considering that we recorded every students 10 attempts on a ipad.

2. How effectively the use of this technology may enhance students' understanding of and learning from your particular content in this activity.
A. I think the use of technology enhanced student's understanding because it's not just me up there talking all day, there were interactive areas as well. There were visual clips that made of professional athletes that would intrigue the younger players and make them want to duplicate what they had seen.

3. What are your strategies and why do you think your strategies are appropriate to teaching this specific content? What makes you believe it would help your students comprehend this particular content? Give specific examples of your described activity.
A. My intro strategy was to greet the audience and give a brief overview of what i was discussing. Then after that I immediately wanted to show some sort of clip or video that could draw attention and give my audience a chance to learn from someone other than me and spark interest early. It was appropriate for this specific content because i started off slow then dove right in which, is what you would do if working on the hesitation and crossover.

4. What would be some conceptions and pre-conceptions that students of different ages and backgrounds bring with them when learning this particular content? What would you be concerned about students' prior knowledge, experiences, motivation? Again focus on the content and your teaching strategy, not the technology!
A. Some pre-conceptions would be does this move work even if the learner isn't a good jump shooter, or do you have to be lightning quick to complete this move. My lesson was for all ages so I wouldn't  be concerned about prior knowledge because most questions could be answered by peers who are older and played longer. The clips of NBA players would be enough motivation for the younger kids to stay engaged and for the older kids if you're serious enough about ball you develop self motivation.

5. What main instructional strategies would this technology use serve in your activity? How would using the technology support the way you teach this activity? Please give examples and be specific to your described activity. Think about your main teaching strategies that this technology would support.
A. The main instructional strategies technology serves here would be for you tube and google classroom, as well as google sites. The instructional strategy from the google site and youtube would be finding the best way to demonstrate whilst explaining the dribble combination. For Google classroom it allows me to assess the learners progress and allows them to review where they succeeded and need more practice.

6. What different classroom management strategies you might need to consider when using this technology in the activity? Give examples and be specific to your described activity.
A. I will need to monitor their tablet or computer use with you tube, many students who are older may feel the need to expand onto other things on youtube. I will also need to work with at least every student at least once just to see how well they grasp the concept. When active during the practicing of the moves, I need to ensure plenty of personal space for movement, and make sure students both guard and perform the move. (Unless we are in a gym setting, where there will be plenty of room)

7. How would  using this technology enhance the way the content is represented in your activity (demonstrations, explanations, examples, illustrations, analogies, and etc.. That is why you think the selection and the pedagogical use of this technology may enhance what you teach (the content in your activity). Give specific examples from your activity to support your answer and keep in mind the learning objectives that you stated previously?
A. I had 3 different demonstrations and examples by using the video clips and breaking them down during and after. The videos showed my students the expectations I have for the dribble combo, and how they're suppose to learn it.  With constant reinforcement of content they learn very easily through the use of having a visual and auditory aid added to a lot of hands on activity.

8. In what different ways can students practice or understand the content in your activity that would otherwise not be possible without the use of the technology? In addition to motivational benefits, what else can students do with this technology as they are learning the content.
A. There could be a Kahoot game on the history of the crossover and ask questions on what the crossover is and what a hesitation is. This wouldn't be possible without the technology. Also there are basketball apps that can track your range of motion to see if your moving correctly. This technology allows students to work on things on their own time, they don't need extra people around them, they can analyze for themselves in their own way.

  1. I think you did a great job with your lesson. It was very informative about basketball! I could tell that you put a lot of thought finding the best example of the hesitate basketball skill. My only advice would be to give more of a visual example of the basketball skills. The video was a bit fast to see the skill he was doing. You gave a great example of the hesitate but maybe to focus a bit more on it and possible have a volunteer try to do such skill.

  2. I thought your lesson was informative and interesting. We don't always know the depth of the tiny details, and it's nice to learn. The video's were a bit hard to grasp if you didn't know exactly what to look for, however great presentation.

  4. I enjoyed your presentation! I like watching basketball highlights because their is a lot of skill that goes into it. One feedback I would give is allowing the students to take part in the drill. We had a long class yesterday so you probably didn't want to hold it up any longer. Overall good presentation!
